Research demonstrated that microgravity significantly impairs immune system function, with reduced T-cell and NK cell activity. The findings highlight the need for immune monitoring and countermeasures during extended spaceflight to prevent infection-related complications.

Microgravity exposure resulted in altered immune cell function and cytokine production. T-cell proliferation capacity was significantly reduced. Natural killer cell activity decreased by approximately 40%. Inflammatory cytokine profiles showed dysregulation. These immune system changes pose risks for infection during long-duration space missions.
